Matsushita’s New Panel Plant in Himeji to Consume 80,000 tonnes Steel

Matsushita Electric Industrial’s new liquid crystal panel plant in Himeji, Hyogo is expected to consume around 80,000 tonnes of steel for the building structure. The steel structure suppliers of 19 fabricators start the fabrication in October. The major plant building work could expand the local steel consumption for around 1 and half years. The steel consumption is expected to be around 17,400 tonnes for plate welding column, around 30,000 tonnes for rolled H-beam, 8,000-9,000 tonnes for fixed outer dimension H-beam, around 11,000 tonnes for plate built H-beam and around 13,000 tonnes for reinforcing plate and flat bar. The plant will also consume 50,000-60,000 tonnes of concrete reinforcing steel bar for the foundation work.Matsushita builds new panel plant with 5 stories steel structure building for around 300 billion yen starting the operation in January 2010. The plant will supply annual 15 million units of panel in 32 inches screen at full capacity operation.
