H-beam market price is flat at around 127,000 yen per tonne for 200 by 100 millimeters width at dealers’ sites around Tokyo. The price range is between 125,000-130,000 yen despite of the dealers’ effort to realize more than 130,000 yen level. The price is likely to keep the level due to slower demand and concern for bankruptcy of the ailing buyers. The dealers’ inventory decreases by up to 20% from June level when the arrivals from makers decrease by around 20-30% due to makers’ cut for June order. The shipment increases by 5-10% partly due to speculative purchase by makers after Nippon Steel’s additional price hike earlier the month. The dealers try to find the timing to offer 135,000 yen per tonne after they realized more than 130,000 yen level. However, some dealers see the market level is peak under the slow demand while others still try to find the chance for higher price. Decreasing ferrous scrap market also impacts on the market. Some interests expect H-beam price could decrease. The price level is likely to keep the level toward slow transaction period of mid-August major holiday.
