Brass Turning Scrap Price Drops to Less Than 500 yen/kg in Tokyo

Brass turning scrap market price decreased to 406 yen per kilogram around Tokyo on Tuesday after Nippon Shindo reduced the purchase price by 14 yen on the day. The transaction is very thin when the dealers will enter major mid-summer holiday in the week. Brass bar makers reduce the purchase volume under slow demand while the scrap generation decreases since late July. The dealers already secured the materials for shipment in August. However, the dealers concern the procurement for September shipment. Some dealers pay more than 500 yen per kg with large volume offer. Some dealers try to find the bottom price with expectation for lower price. A dealer source said the firm holds the purchase until the price hits bottom. With the dealers’ mixed views, the transaction price has wide range. The price will show next trend after the transaction recovers next week after the holiday.
