Lower Import Flat Steel Stock in Tokyo, Osaka

Hanwa Co. reported on Monday imported flat steel inventory decreased by 9.9% or 22,000 tonnes to 200,000 tonnes at quay in Tokyo and Osaka at end of July from June due to higher demand for cold rolled flat steel in Osaka. It was the first drop since April while the inventory increased by 2,000 tonnes or 1% from a year earlier.

The inventory decreased by 16.2% or 19,000 tonnes to 98,000 tonnes in July from June in Osaka. The stock decreased by 3.7% or 1,000 tonnes to 26,000 tonnes for hot rolled coil and by 25.9% or 21,000 tonnes to 60,000 tonnes for cold coil while the plate stock increase by 33.3% or 3,000 tonnes to 12,000 tonnes.

The stock in Tokyo decreased by 2.8% or 3,000 tonnes to 102,000 tonnes at end of July from June. The stock decreased by 10% or 1,000 tonnes to 9,000 tonnes for plate, by 5.7% or 4,000 tonnes to 65,000 tonnes for hot coil and by 7.6% or 2,000 tonnes to 28,000 tonnes for cold coil.
