JFE Steel Gets 64,000T Line Pipe Order for Dampier to Bunbury Expansion

JFE Steel got 64,000 tonnes of order for X70 American Petroleum Institute grade welded steel line pipe with 26 inches of outer diameter for Dampier to Bunbury natural gas pipeline expansion project. The firm supplies the pipe through Metal One Corporation in 2008.

DBNGP (WA) Nominees, which is joint venture controlled by DUET Group with 20% share owned by Alienta and Alcoa each, owns the 1,600 kilometers of pipeline. The firm tries to expand the transport capacity to meet growing demand in Western Australia.

JFE Steel supplies the pipe for Stage 5B expansion, which doubles the pipeline for 440 km long. JFE Steel already shipped 30,000 tonnes for Stage 4 in 2005 and 82,000 tonne for Stage 5A in 2006. With the new order, the firm provides total 176,000 tonnes of pipe for the project.
