Japan Electric Wire Shipment Rises by 1% in July

Japanese electric wire makers’ shipment increased by 1% to 73,500 tonnes in copper volume in July from a year earlier, according to report of around 130 members of Japanese Electric & Wire Makers’ Association on Monday. The higher shipment for automobile and power companies covered drop for construction applications. The construction demand showed sign to hit bottom. Their optical fiber products shipment increased by 16.3% to 2.778 million kilometers core. The copper wire shipment decreased by 3.1% in July from a year earlier, which represented decreases for 11 months in a row. However, the decrease was much lower than around 10% in March to June. The volume reached 30,000 tonnes in July, which was the first 30,000 tonnes level in 5 months. The shipment for automobile increased year to year for 11 months in a row through July when domestic automakers keep high level operation under strong demand for finished car export. The shipment for power companies reached 6,000 tonnes for 7 months in a row.
