Japan Primary Aluminium Price Rises by 10 yen/kg for Oct-Dec

Japanese primary aluminium price increased by 10 yen per kilogram for October-December, which represents increases for 2 quarters in a row. The price, which is indicator for rolled light metal products, hit bottom in April-June after decrease for 3 quarters in a row. The price increased by 30 yen for July-September. With the additional higher price, domestic aluminium products market is expected to keep firm. The primary aluminium ingot price dropped by 50 yen per kg in January-March after 10 yen drops both in July-September and October-December 2007. The primary aluminium price recovered to around 350 yen per kg for July-September. The price could decrease again after October-December when the price at London Metal Exchange decreases along with slower economy in USA and Japan. However, Japanese light metal rerollers try to cover higher cost for magnesium and materials through rolling margin hike.
