Japan Carbon Steel Order Rises by 5.5% in July

Japanese steel makers’ carbon steel order receipt increased by 5.5% to 6.982 million tonnes in July from a year earlier, announced by Japan Iron and Steel Federation on Wednesday. The orders increased by 2.2% to 4.833 million tonnes for domestic market and also increased by 14.0% to 2.149 million tonnes for export. The order receipt moved steady both for domestic and import. The order receipt increased by 2.8% to 2.054 million tonnes for manufacturing in July from a year earlier. Though the order decreased by 6.9% for electrical machinery and equipment, it increased firmly by 9.2% for industrial machinery and equipment, 8.2% for shipbuilding and marine equipment and by 1.1% for automobiles.For construction, the order turned upward compared with the same month year ago. It increased by 1.1% for building and by 4.8% for civil engineering. The order for dealers, which is estimated to supply 70% of the materials for construction, increased by only 0.1% to 1.370 million tonnes.
