Furukawa Circuit Foil to Seek Hike for Electrolytic Copper Foil

Furukawa Circuit Foil will increase the selling price of electrolytic copper foil for January 2009. The firm increases the rolling charge by 40-50 yen per kilogram both for commodity grade and special grade foils made in Japan to cover higher cost for electricity. The firm also studies price hike for commodity grade products made in Taiwan. The firm keeps negotiating with the buyers after the firm announced price hike by averaged 100 yen per kg for domestic products by US$ 0.6-0.7 for Taiwanese commodity grade in May. The firm already got higher price from around 50% of the buyers and still tries to get higher price from another 50% buyers in the year. The firm starts additional hike negotiation in early next year. The Tokyo Electric Power Company and other Japanese power generators revised the pricing system in the month to reflect change of crude oil price timely while they changed the price every 3 months based on energy cost and yen rate. The power companies reflect the energy cost in July-September for electricity charge in January.
