Nippon Steel Keeps High Hot Coil Export Price for Oct-Dec

Nippon Steel apparently concluded the hot rolled coil export negotiation with buyers in remote countries in Southeast Asia, Middle East and Africa to keep the price at FOB US$ 1,050-1,100 per tonne for October-December as July-September. World steel market is in adjustment under oversupply condition partly due to higher Chinese steel export when world economy is suffered from financial crisis caused by US subprime loan. Baoshan Iron and Steel reduced the domestic selling price by 800 yuan per tonne for hot, pickling and cold coil. However, Nippon Steel sees the supply is still tight for high grade hot coil used for cold rolling and other applications. The firm tried to keep the price for high grade materials with different status with commodity grade products while some buyers sought lower price when the market price decreases in Asia, USA and Europe.
