Japanese Zinc Price Rises by 10,000 Yen/T

Mitsui Mining & Smelting revised up the official zinc ingot price by 10,000 yen to 160,000 yen per tonne for domestic shipment in March, announced on Friday. The zinc price increased to the highest level since October 2008. Mitsui Mining & Metals reflected the firm overseas price and depreciation of yen rate. The monthly averaged price is 158,100 yen per tonne without anymore revision within March.

Zinc settlement at London Metal Exchange increased by US$ 40.5 to $ 1186.5 per tonne on Thursday from a previous day, which is $ 111 higher than the level at previous revision by the firm and increased for 6 business days in a row due to the zinc inventory decrease at warehouses registered to LME.

Telegraphic transfer selling rate became 99.50 yen per US dollar, which dropped more than 1 yen from a previous revision.
