Tokyo Steel to Reduce Steel Products Price by 3,000-5,000 y/t in April

Tokyo Steel Manufacturing announced on Monday the firm decreases the selling price of steel products for dealers in April order for 2 consecutive months, which decreased by 3,000 yen per tonne for rebar and wire rod, 5,000 yen for other products such as H-beam or steel sheet. The firm judged to should defense against imported products. The firm started the sales of the plate for the size with 1,524 millimeters and 1829 millimeters width for the contract in April.

The firm decreased the selling price to 49,000 yen for rebar, 68,000 yen for H-beam, and 52,000 yen for hot rolled coil and 65,000 yen for plate.

Imported steel price is 55000-60000 yen for H-beam, is below 40,000 yen for hot rolled coil. A general contractor imported H-beam for building material. The firm said Russia and South Korea are embarking the export to Japan when their current many was cheap.

Because the order to Tokyo Steel from overseas is growing stagnant, the firm’s output is decreasing. The firm’s output is 67,000-68,000 tonnes for H-beam, below 50,000 tonnes for hot-rolled coil, which is expected to keep low in March.. The firm’s output is expected to decrease by 50% in April-June from the same period of last year.

The firm decreased the selling price to users to 53,000 yen by 3,000 yen per tonne for rebar, 73000 yen by 5,000 yen for H-beam.
