Fujikosan Starts Rare Earth Import and Rare Metal Scrap Export with China

Fujikosan, Osaka based rare metal recycler, starts rare earth import business. The firm concluded contracts with several Chinese rare earth suppliers including Minmetals Group for stable supply to Japanese consumers. At the same time, the firm established a new office in Guangdong Province, China to start rare metal scrap export from Japan to China. Fujikosan is expanding trade businesses.

Fujikosan concluded rare earth supply contracts with 4 Chinese companies; Minmetals Group, Baotou Huamei RE Products, Gansu Rare Earth New Material and Sinosteel Group, those who represent around 50% of Chinese export license volume for rare earths.

Fujikosan will deal rare earths such as metallic neodymium, metallic lanthanum, cerium oxide and cerium carbonate. The firm has already provided samples to Japanese customers including electronic parts, polishing agent and magnetic material makers. After their quality evaluations, Fujikosan will start the actual import.

At the same time, Fujikosan opened a new office in Guangdong in February and started export of nonferrous metal scrap and rare metal scrap to China in March. The demand is increasing from Chinese consumers and expected to grow up along Chinese governmental investment measure.

Fujikosan mainly collects nickel based scrap and rare metal scrap and provides them to steel makers and other consumers.
