Imported Steel Inventory Decreases for 2 Months at Japanese Quays

Imported steel inventory at Japanese quays was 230,000 tonnes at the end of February, down by 14,000 tonnes (5.7%) from a month ago, according to Hanwa Co. The quay stock decreased for 2 months in a row with few import arrivals. Meanwhile, the inventory was higher by 27,000 tonnes (13.3%) from a year earlier.

In Osaka, the quay stock totaled 100,000 tonnes at the end of February, down by 4,000 tonnes (3.8%) from a month ago. Steel plate decreased by 1,000 tonnes (7.6%) to 12,000 tonnes, hot coil decreasewd by 5,000 tonnes (13.1%) to 33,000 tonnes while cold rolled coil increased by 2,000 tonnes to 55,000 tonnes.

In Tokyo, the quay stock totaled 130,000 tonnes at the end of February, down by 10,000 tonnes (7.1%) from a month ago. Steel plate decreased by 1,000 tonnes (7.1%) to 13,000 tonnes, hot coil decreased by 7,000 tonnes (8%) to 80,000 tonnes and cold rolled coil decreased by 2,000 tonnes (5.1%) to 37,000 tonnes.
