Japan Secondary Al Alloy Output Continues to Decrease in Feb

Japanese secondary aluminium alloy ingot production and shipment hit the record bottoms in February. The production dropped by 65.5% to 33,946 tonnes and the shipment plunged by 63.9% to 35,784 tonnes, according to Japan Aluminium Alloy Refiners Association. The production kept year-on-year minus for 9 straight months while the shipment for 7 continuous months.

Secondary aluminium demand historically decreased in February along automakers’ stagnant operations. Japanese secondary aluminium makers’ operation rate was around 30% in February.

According to the statistics, secondary aluminium shipment declined by 66.2% to 18,960 tonnes for die casting and by 66.5% to 8,925 tonnes for casting.
