SWCC Showa Acquires Electric Power Cable Parts Maker

SWCC Showa Holdings announced on Wednesday the firm acquired whole shares of Tonan Seisakusyo, Tokyo based manufacturer of metal parts used for high voltage power cable connecting equipment. SWCC Showa aims to expand the power cable connecting equipment business and decided to make Tonan Seisakusyo into the wholly-owned subsidiary. The investment was approximately 400 million yen.

Tonan Seisakusyo was an independent manufacturer of copper, copper alloy and aluminium parts for HV power cable connecting equipment, established in 1951. The annual revenue is approximately 1.1 billion yen. The manufacturing site has 4,600-square-meter floors on 2,600-square-meter site with about 60 employees.

SWCC Showa Group now operates 3 productive sites of HV power cable connecting equipment in Japan, Sagamihara plant in Kanagawa, Shoko Kiki Kogyo, another wholly-owned subsidiary in Kanagawa, and Tonan Seisakusyo.

SWCC Showa Group aims to expand annual revenue of the products to 6 billion yen in fiscal 2010 (Apr10-Mar11) and 10 billion yen in future from current 3-4 billion yen.
