China Secondary Al Price Rises to Up to US$ 1,650/t

Secondary aluminium ingot price is increasing in China. The market price in China increased to US$ 1,630-1,650 per tonne, converted into 171-173 yen per kilogram delivered, according to industry source. Large volume of secondary ingot seems to be shipped to Chongqing and other inland China, paid in advance.

Shanghai Sigma Metals, the largest secondary aluminium smelter in China increases the production to more than 20,000 tonnes in April from 10,000 tonne in January due to demand recovery. The firm plans to ship 85-90% of production for domestic market.

China imports actively secondary aluminium ingot from warehouses registered to London Metal Exchange and South Korea and other neighbor countries despite of 7% tariff. Industry source estimated that 2,000-3,000 tonnes of AD12 grade secondary ingot was exported to China from Japan in March.
