Potential Slowdown for EXSYM’s High Voltage Cable Shipment

EXSYM Corporation, which is joint high voltage electric cable maker of SWCC Showa Holdings and Mitsubishi Cable Industries, plans to ship around 13,000 tonnes in copper volume of electric wire in fiscal 2009 started April as fiscal 2008. The firm concerns, however, the shipment could decrease by 5-10% in fiscal 2009 from fiscal 2008 when the uncertain offshore order would reduce the operation.

The Aichi plant, which is main plant for high voltage electric cable for offshore market, has orders enough to keep full capacity operations for 6 months. However, the production plan could be revised when a major order with large volume of shipment is postponed. The firm tries to get new order for stable operation.

The high voltage electric cable export kept high level mainly for Middle East in past 3 years. Japanese major 3 cable makers including J-Power Systems, VISCAS Corporation and EXSYM kept full capacity operations. But the recession could reduce the operation rate along with the higher yen rate.
