NSSC to Expand Cr Stainless Rebar Sales to 1,000t/y

Nippon Steel & Sumikin Stainless Steel Corporation (NSSC) announced on Thursday the firm’s original-grade stainless steel concrete reinforcing bar was adopted as reinforcing member for a new building of Nippon Keidanren in Tokyo. The rebars were consumed at approximately 60 tonnes, the largest order volume NSSC has ever received. NSSC’s chrome based stainless rebars are used as structural members for shrines, temples or high quality residents. The firm aims to expand the shipment to 1,000 tonnes per annum in several years by the demand cultivation in civil engineering works such as coastal bridges and harbor structures.

For Nippon Keidanren’s new building, NSSC’s chrome based stainless rebar of “NSSD410” grade was adopted, which contains 12% chrome. General materials for internal reinforcement have been carbon steel rebars with resin coating. NSSD410 was this time appreciated with its durability and total cost performance.

NSSD410 represents stable durability and intensity as well as carbon steels even inside low alkaline concrete. NSSD410 doesn’t need resin coating and, that is, contributes to easy construction, lightness and size down. In the case of using NSSD410 for structural bodies, the products contributes to improvement of construction efficiency and expansion of living space.
