Onamba to Optimize Domestic Cable and Wiring Harness Production

Onamba, Osaka based electric wire and cable maker, announced on Tuesday the firm closes an electric cable plant in Shono, Fukushima, Japan and a wiring harness factory in Moriai, Fukushima, within the first half of fiscal 2009 (Apr-Sep 2009). Onamba will integrate domestic cable production into Mie plant while disperse Moriai factory’s operation to other domestic factories.

Onamba operates 2 productive subsidiaries in Japan, West Onamba and East Onamba. Both subsidiaries manufacture electric cables and wiring harnesses. The closing cable plant is operated by East Onamba and Mie cable plant is under West Onamba.

Onamba decided to reorganize domestic production under severe market conditions when copper price plunged, yen exchange rate rose and price competition became harder. After optimization of this time, Onamba Group will operate 1 electric cable plant and 5 wiring harness factories in Japan.
