METI Holds Rare Earth Meeting with China

Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry held meeting with Chinese delegation on rare metal on Tuesday in Tokyo for the first time since 2006. The governments agreed for win-win cooperation at the symposium. The governments hold dialogue on Wednesday. The delegations discuss smelting technology, magnetic material, hydrogen storing alloy and the supply balance.

Japanese government seeks further cooperation with China citing high level technology and knowhow by Japan to utilize the rich resources in China. Chinese government shows willingness for the cooperation for development for both countries.

The meeting started in fiscal 1988 ended March 1989. The governments have discussed on rare earth, which is the key for high temperature superconductive material along with wide utilization in electronic materials, magnetic materials and industry applications.
