Japan Colored Al Shipment Drops for 2 Straight Fiscal Years

Japanese color coated aluminium shipment decreased by 13.0% to 22,665 tonnes for fiscal 2008 through March 2009 from fiscal 2007, which showed year-to-year decline for 2 years in a row, according to Japan Aluminium Association. The shipment decreased for all applications for 2 straight years.

Yearly color coated aluminium shipment through March showed 2-digit year to year decrease for 2 years in a row for construction material. The demand was stagnant both for house and building and it takes more time for recovery.

The shipment for non-construction usage fell below 20,000 tonnes and decrease widened to 2-digit in 2008 from 2007. For electric and mechanical component application, the shipment decreased for the first times in 3 years though it remained more than 10,000 tonnes. The demand for transport machine was also stagnant.
