Japan Import Flat Steel Stock Decreases by 0.8% in March

Hanwa Co. announced on Thursday Japanese imported flat steel inventory at quays in Tokyo and Osaka decreased by 2,000 tonnes (0.8%) to 228,000 tonnes at the end of March from a month earlier. The inventory decreased for 3 months in a row with less import arrivals than delivery volume.

The inventory increased by 4,000 tonnes (4%) to 104,000 tonnes in Osaka at the end of March from a month earlier. The inventory increased by 1,000 tonnes (7.6%) to 13,000 tonnes for plate and by 6,000 tonnes (18.1%) to 39,000 tonnes for hot coil while decreased by 3,000 tonnes (5.7%) to 52,000 tonnes for cold rolled flat steel.

The inventory decreased by 6,000 tonnes (4.8%) to 124,000 tonnes in Tokyo at the end of March from a month earlier. The stock kept flat at 13,000 tonnes for plate while decreased by 1,000 tonnes (1.2%) to 79,000 tonnes for hot coil and by 5,000 tonnes (13.5%) to 32,000 tonnes for cold rolled coil.
