YKK AP to Close Japan 2 Plants

YKK AP announced on Monday the firm closes 2 plants in Chiba prefecture, Japan. The firm closes Chiba plant by the end of March 2010 and Keiyo plant is closed by the end of March 2011. The production of house building and other materials at the 2 plants are transferred to plant in Miyagi and Toyama. A part of production is transferred to new plant in Saitama prefecture, which will start operation from the spring of 2011. The employees at Chiba and Keiyo plants are assigned to plant around Tokyo.

Chiba plant, which has 67 permanent employees and 43 temporary workers, manufactures wire door, joinery and multiple glass. The operation started in December 1984 on the land with 24,000 square meters. Keiyo plant, which manufactures as same as at Chiba, has 72 permanents and 31 temporary employees and has 54,000 square meters of land.
