Japan Rolled Al Output and Shipment Keep Lowest in March

Japanese domestic production of aluminium rolled products, including plates and extrusions, decreased by 39.4% to 118,167 tonnes in March from a year earlier while the shipment declined by 35.8% to 124,248 tonnes, according to Japan Aluminium Association. Both production and shipment represented year-on-year drop for 6 straight months. Inventory adjustment is delayed and the demand decreased by 40% in February and March.

Production and shipment of aluminium plate represented year-on-year decrease for 6 straight months. The demand was stagnant from general machines and wholesalers though stable from can materials.

Production and shipment of aluminium extrusions kept year-on-year decline for 26 straight months. The demand maintained stagnant from constructions and automobiles.

Aluminium foils shipment shrank by about 90% for capacitors. Both production and shipment showed year-on-year decrease for 6 months.
