Metalart Expands Forging Parts Output for CVT

Shiga based forging processor, Metalart Corporation started to expand production of forging parts for continuously variable transmission (CVT) for Daihatsu Motor in the month when Daihatsu expands vehicle with energy saving CVT. Metalart expanded the production from monthly 9,000 sets to 12,000 sets. The firm eyes additional expansion to meet growing demand.

The firm started CVT forging parts production in March 2008 at the subsidiary while Metalart supplies the material to the subsidiary. The production was averaged 9,000 sets per month in fiscal 2008. The firm raised the operation rate in May 2009 to expand the production.

Daihatsu expands production of vehicle with CVT, which represents around 40% of the passenger vehicle. Metalart eyes new production facility at the subsidiary, where the plant building uses only 5,500 square meters of the land with 30,000 square meters, to meet growing demand.
