Poongsan to Launch New Coil Center in China

Poongsan Corporation, rolled copper products maker in South Korea, starts an operation of new coil center, Poongsan (Shenzhen) in Shenzhen, China in the end of August. The coil center plans to ship 150-200 tonnes of rolled copper products per month and aims to increase to 500 tonnes per month after the economic recovery. Poongsan has another 2 Chinese plants, in Dongguan and Shanghai.

Shenzhen-based firm’s new plant with about 9,700 square-meters of floor space on about 23,000 square-meters site has each slitter and automatic packing machine. The firm would launch cut process operation of lead frame material and brass and stainless steel with the slitter with 300 tonnes per month of processing capacity. The workforce is 20 persons including expatriate as the first stage.

Poongsan sells the copper rolled products fabricated at coil center in Dongguan, established in 1997, to foreign copper products users in China. However, the new coil center in Shenzhen is established to respond the demand increase under recent economic development in China. Poongsan plans to build another plant in Shenzhen’s site to expand the processing capacity when the demand increases.
