Japan Stainless Steel Export Drops by 5.3% in April

Japanese stainless steel export decreased by 5.3% to 74,626 tonnes in April from March, according to Japan Stainless Association. Flat steel export increased by 3.4% while long products export decreased by 8.6%. Steel tube export decreased by 29%.

Hot rolled and cold rolled stainless steel sheet export was 55,869 tonnes in April, which increased for 2 consecutive months. Especially, hot rolled stainless steel sheet export increased by 45.7% to 29,394 tonnes. Output of stainless steel products seems recovering at overseas. Chinese stainless makers finished the inventory adjustment. Chinese makers’ output hit record high in April.

On the other hand, Japanese cold rolled stainless steel sheet export decreased by 20.3% to 26,475 tonnes in April from March.
