Osaka Steel to Hike Angle, Channel by 3,000 yen/t

Osaka Steel announced on Tuesday the firm increases the selling price of angle and channel by 3,000 yen per tonne for August order. The attempt is the first hike since July 2008 order. The firm also keeps low level order receipt at 50% lower than June 2008.

The firm tries to improve the selling price when the ferrous scrap market price increases despite of the very slow domestic steel demand. The firm is cautious for such price hike under slow demand and tries to improve the supply balance by the major production cut at Sakai plant in Osaka.
