JFE Bars & Shapes, Yamato Steel Follow to Hike Shapes Price

JFE Bars & Shapes announced on Thursday the firm increases selling price of equal angle steel and channel steel by 3,000 yen per tonne for August order. The firm hikes both products for the first time since July 2008. The firm tries to improve the profitability when ferrous scrap price has increased significantly from April. The firm reduces the output and the shipment at least 50% for August compared with April-June. The firm reduces the output more than before when the stock in the market is likely to increase.

Yamato Steel also increases I beam and channel spot price. The firm announced on Thursday the firm increases the selling price by 2,000 yen per tonne for August order to reflect ferrous scrap surge while the firm keeps the H-beam price for 1 August shipment. The firm continues output reduction.

Sumikin Steel & Shapes apparently keeps H-beam price for July and August shipment. The firm continues the output reduction to meet the demand, announced on Thursday.
