Japan Color Al Shipment Decreases by 54.2% in 1H

Japanese colored aluminum shipment decreased by 54.2% to 6,320 tonnes for January-June 2009 from corresponding period of 2008, which decreased by for the first time in 2 years, according to Japan Aluminium Association. The shipment fell below 10,000 tonnes when the demand for non-construction usage collapsed.

The colored aluminium shipment for construction decreased in the first half year from same period of 2008. The shipment for roof and wall showed first decrease in 2 years while the shipment for door decreased for 2 years in a row, which down by about 50% from January-June 2008. The demand for non-construction usage collapsed due to the electric and mechanical component stagnation. The demand for household equipment machine and transportation machine significantly decreased. The shipment decreased by about 60% for non-construction.
