Strong Indium Price around Tokyo

Indium price is increasing around Tokyo. The market price is over 30,000 yen per kilogram for low grade products, which is used for low-melting-point alloy. The price has increased from less than 30,000 yen in late July when the overseas spot price shows sign to rebound.

Overseas indium spot price declined to US$ 275-325 per kg in July, according to Reuters. Japanese indium price for solder and fuse decreased to 25,000-30,000 yen per kg in July from over 30,000 yen in June partly due to higher yen rate.

However, overseas spot price increased to US$ 275-350 per kg on Wednesday. One rare metal trader source around Tokyo said the transaction price increased to US$ 330. The price increased when Japanese government added the metal to the list of strategic stockpile and the buyers try to build the inventory. The higher demand also supports the price when the demand recovered a year earlier level and indium tin oxide target production is high level.
