Japan Cu Electric Wire Shipment Drops by 20.5% in July

Japanese copper electric wire makers’ shipment decreased by 20.5% to 58,200 tonnes in copper weight in July from a year earlier, according to research for around 130 members of Japanese Electric Wire & Cable Makers’ Association. The shipment for construction & wholesaler remained low while the shipment for automobile and electric machine & appliance slightly increased from a month ago.

The optical fiber products shipment increased by 18.4% to 3.28 million kilometers core in length of optical fiber in June from a year earlier, which exceeded 3.17 million kilometers core in April when the overseas demand was firm. The shipment marked over 3 million kilometers core in April for the first time in 13 months and showed first year-to-year increase in 6 months. The export increased by 29.1% to 2.65 million kilometers core in June from a year earlier while the shipment decreased by 11.9% to 637,475 kilometers core for home.
