Japan Ferrous Scrap Export Drops in July

Japanese ferrous scrap export decreased by 14.2% to 864,000 tonnes in July from June, which decreased for 2 months in a row, according to Ministry of Finance. The export decreased to less than 1 million tonnes for the first time since March but the level was 5th monthly high. The export increased to China for 2 months in a row while the export to South Korea decreased for 2 months in a row. The export to Taiwan increased for the first time in 2 months.

The export to China increased by 9.5% to 553,000 tonnes in July from June. The export decreased by 42.6% to 246,000 tonnes to South Korea while the export to Taiwan increased by 25% to 35,000 tonnes.

The export volume kept more than 1 million tonnes for 3 months at 1.058 million tonnes in April, 1.103 million tonnes in May and 1.007 million tonnes in June.
