Ferrous scrap market price is flat at around 15,500 yen per tonne for H2, around 17,300 yen for H1 and around 19,000 yen for HS at the dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep the level due to support by export shipping from Tokyo bay.
Local electric furnace steel makers pay 22,000-23,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade scrap. The local market price is peaking when the export transaction is slower since mid-May while the export supported the local market. However, the supply is expected to keep the balance due to low level supply and firm export shipping for existing orders despite of the low level consumption by local steel makers.
