Al UBC Scrap Price to Decline around Tokyo

Aluminium used beverage can scrap purchase price by secondary aluminium alloy makers inevitably decreases from 85-90 yen per kilogram around Tokyo. The shipment of scrap is at lower level after second half of May when the makers reduce the procurement expecting price cut by dealers.

UBC scrap demand is stagnant while the generation is likely to increase due to the seasonal factor. Secondary aluminium makers buy only small volume of scrap while its shipment worsens. One maker source said the firm would reduce UBC purchase price by a minimum of 15 yen to 70-75 yen per kg for first half of June compared with second half of May.

The large volume of UBC apparently exported at high price to South Korea in March and April. However, export is also stagnant as domestic demand.

On the other hand, some of dealers sell the scrap at lower price when they increase the scrap inventory from last winter.
