Pb Scrap Price Increases by 4-6 yen/kg in Tokyo

Lead scrap price increased by 4-6 yen per kilogram around Tokyo, despite Japanese official lead ingot price increased by 17,000 yen to 260,000 yen per tonne for September shipment on Monday. The lead scrap price would not increase more due to slow demand for secondary lead. The price increased to 105-115 yen per kg for higher grade scrap, 85-100 yen for battery electrode scrap and 85-90 yen for typographic scrap.

Higher grade secondary lead ingot demand would decrease for lead tube and plate. Refineries cannot pass the higher material cost to secondary lead price despite of higher primary ingot price. The refineries cannot increase the purchase price for lead scrap while the scrap dealers seek higher price. The purchase price for higher grade lead scrap by the refineries is 120-125 yen per kg at higher price. The demand for typographic lead scrap significantly decreased and the purchase price by the users is around 100 yen.

Used battery and battery electrode lead scrap price remains high when the scrap demand for export is firm. The purchase price for used battery by refineries is around 55-60 yen per kg for large lot transaction.
