JFE Steel Accepts Hot Coil from Turkish Steel Tube Makers

JFE Steel, Japanese major steel maker, accepted an order of hot rolled coil for spiral steel tube at about 40,000 tonnes from Turkish Pipe Consortium (TPC), spiral steel tube makers in Turkey. The tubes will be applied to natural gas pipeline in Algeria. JFE Steel received a hot coil order from a tube maker in Turkey for the first time.

The natural gas pipeline is GR 4 project made by a national oil company, Sona Trach in Algeria. The project will consume steel pipe at about 200,000 tonnes and start operation in or after 2011. JFE Steel will ship hot rolled coil for API5L-X70 of API standard to TPC from October 2009 to March 2010.

Turkey is a key spot of energy connection since Turkey is centrally-located among Middle-East, Africa, Europe and CIS. There are a number of spiral steel tube makers. JFE Steel targets Turkey as an important spot for hot rolled coil for spiral steel tube.
