Furukawa-Sky Aluminum to Launch New Growth Strategy

Furukawa-Sky Aluminum tries to seek next growth by developing Asian market through tie-up with local companies while the firm reshuffles domestic aluminium flat products operations. The president Masateru Yoshihara said the firm tries to study again for growth strategy in changing world after worldwide financial crisis. He said the firm launches new 3-year plan through fiscal 2012 for the growth strategy.

Mr. Yoshihara said the firm tries to expand the offshore business especially in developing countries after the firm launched 3 plants in Indonesia, Vietnam and China. He said the firm also started joint products development with Choil Aluminum of South Korea and concludes agreement in October to get shares in Chinese aluminium rolling companies, Ruyuan Dongyangguang Plain Foil and Shaoguan Yangzhiguang Aluminum Foil.

Mr. Yoshihara said the integration of 3 plants of aluminium flat products is almost completing with the customers’ quality approval for can material and printing plate. He also eyes potential restructuring for extrusion while the domestic construction demand slump impacts little on the business so for. He said the firm acquired 100% share of Nippon Foil Mfg. to seek synergy for better development capacity through downstream products.
