Japan Rolled Al Output and Shipment Show Slight Recovery in August

Japanese domestic production of aluminium rolled products, including plates and extrusions, decreased by 18.2% to 139,230 tonnes in August from a year earlier while the shipment decreaed by 18.7% to 138,920 tonnes, according to Japan Aluminium Association. Both production and shipment represented year-to-year decrease for 11 straight months. Meanwhile, the minus range continued to edge narrower.

Plate production and shipment showed year-to-year minus for 11 months. The demand for can materials slowed down due to cool summer though the demand recovered from applications related to automobiles, electric appliances and export.

Extrusion production and shipment represented year-to-year minus for 31 straight months. Meanwhile, the minus range was as narrow as 20% thanks to the slight demand recovery from construction market.

Foil shipment showed year-to-year minus for 11 months. The demand maintained low from capacitors, the main application.
