Japanese ferrous scrap export decreased to around 730,000 tonnes in August from July, which decreased for 3 consecutive months. The export decreased by 37.6% to 345,000 tonnes for China, by 14.3% to 30,000 tonnes for Taiwan while increased by 35.8% to 334,000 tonnes for South Korea. The export for China represented first decrease in 3 months. The export for Taiwan showed first decrease in 2 months. Meanwhile, the export for South Korea rebounded after 3 months.
The export hit record 1.103 million tonnes in May 2009 and decreased to 1.007 million tonnes in June, 864,000 tonnes in July and 731,000 tonnes in August.Japan Steel Scrap Composite Prices (Sangyo Press)
