Tokyo Steel Cuts Ferrous Scrap Purchase Price Again

Tokyo Steel Manufacturing announced on Wednesday the firm reduces ferrous scrap purchase price on Thursday. The firm reduces the price by 1,000 yen per tonne for land and ocean transport to all plants except for price for ocean transport to Okayama plant, which decreases by 1,500 yen. The revised purchase price for H2 grade is 27,000 yen for Okayama plant, 26,500 yen for Kyushu plant and 26,000 yen for Takamatsu plant and Utsunomiya plant.

Ferrous scrap market price is decreasing around Tokyo. The dealers’ purchase price is around 19,500 yen per tonne for H2 grade, around 21,300 yen for H1 grade and around 23,000 yen for HS grade including freight. Local electric furnace steel makers pay 26,000-27,500 yen for H2. The price could decease more due to slower demand for export.

The purchase price by local electric furnace steels decreased by 2,000-2,500 yen per tonne until Wednesday compared with the peak in third week of September while scrap export stays at low level.
