Hisaka Works Expands Heat Exchanger Production for Overseas Market

Osaka based industrial machine maker, Hisaka Works aims to expand order receipts for plant equipment renewals at overseas, mainly in China. The firm plans to start construction of a new plant in China within this year to manufacture plate-type heat exchangers. The new plant will start operation in July 2010. Hisaka Works is the largest titanium user in Japan to consume rolled titanium at more than 1,000 tonnes per year mainly for plate-type heat exchangers.

The new plant is located in Changshu, Jiangsu Province, China. The plant’s floor space is approximately 10,000 square meters on a 30,000-square-meter site. The capital is 500 million yen. Hisaka Works plans total investment at 1.25 billion yen.

The new plant will manufacture plate-type heat exchangers. Hisaka Works will export titanium plate for the plant while procure other components such as flames and gaskets from local suppliers. The construction is scheduled to start in late November or early December and complete in June 2010.

In Chinese market, demand for plate-type heat exchangers is increasing from newly constructed plants as well as equipment renewals. Hisaka Works aims to cultivate local demand from Japanese makers and major Chinese makers.

Meanwhile, Hisaka Works also plans to reinforce heat exchanger production toward fiscal 2010 starting in April. At overseas, large construction projects of LNG plants and petrochemical plants are planned. Along these projects, heat exchanger orders are expected to concentrate in fiscal 2010.
