Antimony Price Increase Stops around Tokyo

Antimony market price stopped increasing around Tokyo. The overseas market price increased due to the market speculation after the shutdown in world largest antimony mine. The price increased by 40 yen to 710-760 yen per kilogram on Wednesday from the previous day around Tokyo. However, the speculative purchase is expected to calm down when the operation restarted partly in the mine.

The overseas antimony spot price is US$ 6,300-6,550 per tonne, according to Reuters. Antimony producers and exporters increased the offer after the mining and smelting shutdown in the largest mine in Hunan, China, at which an accident occurred in October 8.

However, the mine resumed normal operation last week except south mining area, which the accident occurred, according to a local market source. Small and mid sized makers seem to continue the operation in the mine except south area. With the fading supply concern, the speculative purchase could be cooled down.
