Ferrous Scrap Price Shows Sign to Increase in Tokyo

Ferrous scrap market price is flat at around 15,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade, around 16,800 yen for H1 grade and 18,500 yen for HS grade at the dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep the level with mixed factors.

The purchase price by local electric furnace steel makers is 21,500-23,000 yen for H2 grade, as same as in last week. The price shows a sign to increase when the export price is higher than local electric furnace steels’ purchase price while scrap supply is at low level. Some dealers see the scrap price is uncertain with lower Chinese import volume and Japanese slow construction steel demand and price.
