Ferrous scrap market price is flat at around 20,500 yen per tonne for H2, around 22,300 yen for H1 and around 24,000 yen for HS at the dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely not to plunge under domestic tight supply.
Local electric furnace steel makers pay 27,000-28,500 yen per tonne for H2 grade scrap. The dealers’ scrap purchase price decreased by 3,000 yen from last week level when local steel makers reduced the purchase price under lower export price. However, the dealers expect they cannot reduce the scrap purchase price under very slow scrap generation due to slow industrial activity.
