Ferroalloy Price Begins to Rebound

Japanese silicomanganese import price increased by 6.7% to 95,200 yen per tonne in July from June, which increased for the first time in 4 month, according to Ministry of Finance. However, averaged import price of ferroalloys decreased by 14.7%, which decreased for 5 months in a row when the market price continues decreasing.

The import price of high carbon ferromanganese declined in July from June for the first time in 2 months. The ferronickel import price increased for 2 straight months and ferromolybdenum increased for 2 months in a row. Some of ferroalloys price increased.

The silicomanganese import volume in July was 2.1 times of June, which showed first increase in 3 months. The ferrosilicon import volume increased for the first time in 3 months while the ferrochrome import volume showed first increase in 2 months. Totaled ferroalloy import volume increased for the first time in 3 months.

The ferroalloy import volume decreased by 57.7% to 560,702 tonnes in January-July compared with same period a year ago and the price decreased by 13.3% to 196,200 yen per tonnes.
