Construction Steels Price Declines in Tokyo and Osaka

Steel products market price for building construction decreased around Tokyo. H-beam market price decreased by 1,000 yen to 65,000-66,000 yen per tonne compared with the last week. The price of other steel products is impacted by the decline in H-beam price.

H-beam market price was increasing in September due to the price hike by makers. However, the price turned downward when Tokyo Steel Manufacturing reduced the selling price. The market price decreased by 4,000-5,000 yen per tonne for October-November. Column price declined by 2,000 yen to 103,000 yen per tonne for BCR while equal angle steel declined by 2,000 yen to 73,000 yen and channel steel dropped by 2,000 yen to 77,000-78,000 yen.

Column price decreased to 95,000 yen per tonne for BCR and STKR around Osaka. Some dealers’ reselling price is around 90,000 yen per tonne for large lot transaction. The price would decline more.

Dealers’ column shipment decreased by around 10% in October from September, according to a dealer source. Column price is weakening while H-beam price decreased to 65,000 yen per tonne around Osaka. Users require the lower price to dealers. Some dealers reduce the price for securement of sales.
