Dong Bu Steel Introduces One Electric Furnace in Asan Bav Works

Mr. Kim Jun Ki, Dong Bu Steel’ chairman said on press conference the firm introduces one electric furnace in Asan Bav works, South Korea. The works started the operation of new 2 electric furnaces of each 160 tonnes and introduced more electric furnace. Steel making capacity increases by over 1.5 million tonnes per year if new furnace is 100 tonne furnace. The firm is expected to start rebar production. Mr. Kim said the firm aims the production capacity is 10-12 million tonnes per year by additional investment.

The firm built up production system of hot rolled coil at 3 million tonnes per year by electric furnace in Asan Bav Works, which has the production capacity at total 5.8 million tonnes, 2 million tonnes of cold rolled coil, and 800,000 tonnes of pipe and wire rod. The capacity is expected to be 8 million tonnes if new electric furnace is introduced. The firm aims the capacity at 10 million tonnes by additional investment, and is expected to improve profit structure by consistent production system.

The firm kicked around additional investment of electric furnace since spring, and starting production of rebar when the firm recovers investment at an early date.
