Firm Ferrous Scrap Price in Tokyo, Osaka

Ferrous scrap market price is flat at around 18,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade, around 19,800 yen for H1 grade and 21,500 yen for HS grade at the dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. Local electric furnace steel makers pay 24,000-25,000 yen for H2 grade while some makers pay around 25,500 yen.

Japanese dealers receive inquiries from overseas steel makers. However, current export price is slightly lower than local market price. The averaged export price, which was set at joint export tender held by dealers group around Osaka on Friday, is higher than the averaged price at dealers’ joint tender around Tokyo. Market sources see the export price is firm and the price could lift the local market price.

Ferrous scrap price is increasing from around 17,500 yen per tonne for H2 grade at the dealers’ purchase price around Osaka while the local electric furnace steels’ purchase price is around 24,500-25,500 yen for H2 grade and higher price is around 27,000 yen.
